Welcome to Playa Blanca - Lanzarote
A very warm welcome
to Playa Blanca.
We
first visited Playa Blanca some 25 years ago, when it was a small
fishing village, with its' beautiful harbour, two restaurants, one
supermarket and a couple of local bars
Today, Playa Blanca is a beautiful
holiday resort which has successfully retained its' magical charm,
that you will discover when you come here for a holiday.
I
promise you it won't be your last visit.
It's great to be by the seaside,
but an empty featureless seascape can be very uninteresting.
You cannot say that about Playa Blanca, which sits on the southernmost
tip of Lanzarote, and has stunning views over the strait, to Fuerteventura
and the smaller island of Lobos.
Two
ferries ply their way between the two islands almost every day of
the year, and you can set your watches by their departures and arrivals.
There are a number
of good sandy beaches covering the stretch of coastline from Pechigura
in the West to Papagayo in the east. Also some rocky ones, with those
fascinating rock pools we love so much.
The three main beaches have been awarded the European Blue Flag for
cleanliness.
The nearest to Casa Tisa is Flamingo beach ideal for families and
very safe for children.
After that there is the main town beach
and further on Dorada beach which is slightly more sophisticated with
its colorful sunbeds and sombrellas.
All
have beautiful sands and clear blue waters.
There are 6 wonderful
beaches at Papagayo, and it is generally recognised that they are
some of the best beaches in the whole of Spain.
You can get to them by a rather dusty road, or by water taxi from
the harbour which is always a good bit of fun and perfectly safe.
A coastal walkway stretches some 4 miles along the waters edge and
will be extended as the resort grows.
It's a lovely way to see Playa Blanca with its' small cafe bars, its'
numerous restaurants, and a few shops for those little presents for
back home.

Many of the activities centre around the sea, with great diving, snorkelling
and swimming in the crystal clear waters. Visit the 'Dive
College Lanzarote' link to find out more.

There are busier resorts further north, but Playa Blanca continues
to attract young families, discerning couples and older folk looking
for a truly relaxing holiday in safe and beautiful surroundings.
If it's a hectic nightlife you're looking for, Playa Blanca is not
for you.
But if you want to enjoy the natural beauty of the island, nice food
and inexpensive
drinks, sunshine and warmth, then come to Playa Blanca and enjoy the
friendliness of the beautiful island of Lanzarote.
